If you would like to host a Parent Session at your parish and school, and are looking for some information and resources to help you promote and implement the Strong Catholic Families: Strong Catholic Youth initiative, look no further!
Please share this information with all leaders at your parish and/or school to help all leaders collaborate on bringing this initiative to your community.
Sessions are designed to meet the needs of your parish or school. Options include:
- Parent gatherings for sacramental preparation (First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, Confirmation)
- Follow up gatherings for parents who have recently had a child baptized
- Special parish programs for parents
- Orientation for Parents of New Students (elementary school or high school)
- In-services for parish and school leaders
- Home School Association meetings
Responsibilities for Parish/School:
Time requirement: Please keep in mind that presenters need 90-120 minutes to present the Strong Catholic Families: Strong Catholic Youth material. Presenting a Parent Session in less time short-changes the experience and is less likely to result in the desired outcome: parents who are more motivated to engage in faith more fully. Motivating for change (aka conversion) takes time! Please allow adequate time for your Parent Session(s).
Promotional materials: Download the following resources to help you promote the Parent Session(s):
Session materials: The following materials are distributed at initial Parent Sessions:
- Parent to Parish Response Form
This Form is handed out and collected at the presentation. We will collate the responses and a diocesan staff member will return the parent response forms back to the parish with possible suggestions and next steps for the parish.
- Family Faith Resource Booklet (16 pages) Each Family takes one home $1.00 each.
- Table Top Tent Prayer/Blessing Card (Optional but strongly recommended) $1.20 each.
